Eksportfinans’ board of directors has today appointed Geir Ove Olsen as new CEO of Eksportfinans ASA effective from July 1, 2018. Geir Ove Olsen has been CFO of Eksportfinans since 2008 and will succeed Geir Bergvoll who leaves the company on June 30, 2018.
The chairman of the board, Sigurd Carlsen, has the following comment to the appointment: “I am content that Geir Ove Olsen has accepted the position as CEO. He has thorough knowledge of the organization and its business activities, and is highly qualified to lead the company going forward.”
On behalf of the board the chairman extends his gratitude to Geir Bergvoll for his solid efforts as CEO since the autumn of 2014: “Geir Bergvoll has been a strong and driven leader in a challenging period for the company. He leaves an organization that is well positioned to manage values, capital and staff in implementing the company’s defined strategy.”

Eksportfinans manages a portfolio of loans to the Norwegian export industry and foreign buyers of Norwegian capital goods. The company has not granted new loans since the government established a fully state owned entity responsible for new officially supported export loans in 2012. Eksportfinans’ loans are guaranteed by GIEK (The Norwegian Export Credit Guarantee Agency) and/or banks. The company also manages a portfolio of international securities. The business is funded through bonds and commercial paper issued in the international capital markets.
